Mary D. Lane
Ms. Lane's practice includes bankruptcy cases, bankruptcy litigation, and commercial litigation. Ms. Lane has practiced law for nineteen years, eight years as a trial lawyer with an emphasis on creditors' rights and eleven years as a bankruptcy attorney. Ms. Lane has tried cases in district court, state court, and bankruptcy court.
Before joining this firm she represented pension funds in their workouts with California real estate borrowers, hospitals in the Maxicare bankruptcy Chapter 11 proceeding, and the principal foreign financer of independent movie productions in connection with the bankruptcies and workouts of entertainment producers' borrowings.
At the firm, among other things, she has managed complex claims objections for reorganized debtors, prepared claims objections for chapter 7 trustees, helped a purchaser of an acute-care hospital out of a bankruptcy reorganization, obtained orders approving DIP financing on a superpriority basis, obtained protective orders against antitrust discovery on the basis of the "failing company" defense, prepared sale orders, prepared bid packages, negotiated take-out commitments, prepared stipulations for recoupment with healthcare governmental entities, participated in the representation of tort litigants committees in the various bankruptcy cases involving the Roman Catholic Church, and reviewed sales and distribution agreements of a film distribution company to analyze the effects of cross-collateralization.
Ms. Lane received her B.A. from Barnard College and her J.D. from UCLA, where she was articles editor for the UCLA Law Review. She is a member of the California bar and a resident of our Los Angeles office.
