
Michael R. Seidl, resident in Delaware and the firm’s Wilmington office, has pursued insolvency law and related litigation practice for more than 25 years, representing debtors, official committees, liquidating trusts, and creditors in chapter 11 cases for publicly traded and privately held companies in many jurisdictions across the country. Michael’s representations involve multiple industries and include prominent chapter 11 engagements such as representing debtor Athenex and affiliates in their liquidation proceedings in Houston, debtor Quiksilver and affiliates in their reorganization proceedings in Delaware, debtor Filene’s Basement and affiliates in their liquidation in Delaware, debtor Murray Inc. in its liquidation in Nashville, and debtor Superior Telecom and affiliates in their reorganization proceedings in Delaware. Michael has also represented official committees and postconfirmation estates in matters like Ascena Retail Group (E.D. Va.), Cinemex (S.D. Fla.), KH Funding (D. Md.), and Payless Holdings (E.D. Mo.). Michael is one of several authors of First Day Motions, a publication of the American Bankruptcy Institute that serves as a guide to preparing for a new chapter 11 debtor filing. Michael has been listed in Best Lawyers in America on multiple occasions. Michael holds a B.A. degree in English from James Madison University (1988), an M.A. degree in English from James Madison University (1990), a Ph.D. in English from the University of Delaware (1995), and a J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center (1996).
