Representation of the creditors’ committee in the chapter 11 case of Pacifica Hospital of the Valley, which operates a hospital near Los Angeles, in the Central District of California. The firm litigated against and successfully negotiated with the hospital’s secured creditors to achieve a settlement for the benefit of the unsecured claims. The settlement was memorialized into a plan, which paid $4,575,000 to unsecured creditors (the original offer from the hospital was for no money). After the plan was confirmed by the bankruptcy court, the firm represented the posteffective-date committee and the trustee tasked with enforcing the rights of unsecured creditors under the confirmed plan.
