Diocese of Stockton (Roman Catholic Bishop of Stockton)
This site has been created to provide unsecured creditors with information and to solicit and receive comments from unsecured creditors about the pending chapter 11 case of the Diocese of Stockton
NOTICE: On January 10, 2017, Judge Christopher M. Klein of the Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California confirmed a consensual plan in the Diocese of Stockton chapter 11 bankruptcy case. Under the approved plan, abuse survivors will receive $15 million and a trust for the benefit of the survivors.
On January 15, 2014, the Diocese of Stockton ("Diocese") filed bankruptcy case number 14-20371, entitled In re the Roman Catholic Bishop of Stockton, in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California, Sacramento Division. The Honorable Christopher M. Klein is the presiding judge.
Diocese Committee Appointment
On February 11, 2014, the United States Trustee appointed the committee of creditors holding unsecured claims in the Diocese case ("Committee"). The Committee has selected Pachulski Stang Ziehl & Jones LLP ("PSZJ") as its counsel; bankruptcy court approval is pending. James Stang and Robert Orgel are the principal attorneys at PSZJ responsible for this engagement. To date, no other committees have been appointed.
