Pachulski Stang Ziehl & Jones Recognized at 2026 Los Angeles Business Journal M&A Awards for Role in Village Roadshow Chapter 11 Sale

Pachulski Stang Ziehl & Jones LLP (PSZJ) was recognized as part of the winning deal team at the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2026 M&A Awards in the Deal of the Year, $100 million–$500 million category, recognizing the chapter 11 sale of Village Roadshow Entertainment Group USA’s assets to Alcon Media Group. Led by Bradford Sandler and Robert Feinstein, PSZJ served as counsel to the unsecured creditors’ committee in the case.

Village Roadshow, the producer and financier behind such films as Joker, The Great Gatsby, the Ocean’s series, Sully, and The Matrix trilogy, filed for chapter 11 protection in March 2025 following financial distress driven by a costly arbitration with Warner Bros. and losses tied to an independent production venture. Through three sequential Section 363 sale processes, Alcon Media Group emerged as the winning bidder for the company’s film library, derivative rights assets, and studio business, generating total proceeds exceeding $440 million. The outcome delivered full recovery for certain creditor classes and an 85% recovery for general unsecured creditors.

The award was presented at the Business Journal’s second annual M&A Awards on September 10, 2026.
