Laura Davis Jones to Present on "The Elephant in the Boardroom: The Authority of Independent Directors"

Laura Davis Jones will be featured as a panelist at the upcoming 2026 Turnaround Management Association (TMA) Annual in Houston, Texas. Laura’s panel, entitled “The Elephant in the Boardroom: The Authority of Independent Directors,” will discuss the dynamics that arise when advising the board to surrender some or all of its authority to independent directors. This panel features a cross section of professionals and key financial constituents discussing the benefits of delegating authority from the board to independent directors who specialize in turnaround situations and chapter 11 cases.

Speakers will address litigation benefits of having objective independent directors, fiduciary duties, and how to best equip the independent directors with enough control and authority to provide the available protections. Attendees will learn how professionals approach potential conflict with board members and strategies for recommending new directions when there is no historical business relationship.
