March 24, 2026

We are pleased to announce that Theodore Heckel, resident in the firm’s Houston and New York Offices, has become a partner of Pachulski Stang Ziehl & Jones.

Theo represents debtors, secured creditors, unsecured creditors, committees, and other significant parties of interest in complex restructurings and financially distressed situations, both in and out of court. His representations have involved a wide range of industries, including energy, retail, media and entertainment, real estate, technology and telecom, cryptocurrency, and life sciences. He has worked on numerous important cases during his career, including serving as debtors’ counsel in Desktop Metal, Core Scientific, and Talen Energy, and serving as creditors’ committee counsel in Franchise Group, Cineworld, and Hooters of America, among many others. Theo is also an active contributor to bankruptcy scholarship, having co-authored articles published in Pratt’s Journal of Bankruptcy Law and the ABI Journal, among other publications.

“Theo embodies the qualities that define PSZJ’s partnership — strategic acumen, sound judgment, creativity, a passion for learning, and a steadfast commitment to achieving clients’ goals,” said Bradford J. Sandler, a Managing Partner of the Firm’s New York Office and member of the Firm’s Management Committee. “Throughout some of the most challenging restructuring matters, Theo has distinguished himself as a trusted advisor to clients. Welcoming Theo to PSZJ’s partnership reflects both his remarkable contributions to the Firm and our confidence in the pivotal role he will play as we continue to grow our market-leading practices.”

“We are incredibly proud to announce Theo’s promotion to Partner,” said Michael D. Warner, Managing Partner of the Firm’s Texas Office. “He is an exceptional attorney whose talent, dedication, and deep experience set him apart. I know Theo has a remarkable career ahead of him, and we look forward to working alongside him as our partner.”

Theo received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School, where he was awarded the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence. Following law school, he served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Nancy Hershey Lord of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York. He is admitted to practice in Minnesota, New York, and Texas.
