Teddy Kapur, resident in the firm’s Los Angeles office, represents debtors, creditors’ committees, trustees, assignees, and asset purchasers in chapter 11 corporate bankruptcies, assignments for the benefit of creditors, and other out-of-court restructurings.
Teddy has played a leading role in cases that have been awarded “Mid-Size Company Turnaround of the Year” and “Large Transaction of the Year” by the Turnaround Management Association, and “Restructuring Deal of the Year” and “Reorganization of the Year Award” by The M&A Advisor.
Teddy’s professional achievements are widely recognized by leading publications. Most recently, he was named to The Lawdragon‘s list of the 500 Leading Bankruptcy & Restructuring Lawyers. Every year for over a decade, Thomson Reuters has selected Mr. Kapur as a “Super Lawyer,” and the same publication recognized Teddy as a “Top 100: Southern California Super Lawyer.” Since 2018, he has been listed in Best Lawyers in America. The Los Angeles Business Journal has included Teddy in its list of the LA region’s “Most Influential Minority Lawyers,” as well as its list of “Leaders of Influence: Thriving in Their 40s.” Earlier in his career, Teddy received a number of “Top 40 Under 40” awards from the Daily Journal, The Recorder, The M&A Advisor, the Century City Bar Association, and the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association.
Prior to joining the firm, Teddy was a vice president at AIG SunAmerica Affordable Housing Partners. He also worked as an analyst in the investment banking division of Merrill Lynch & Co.
Teddy earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law, his Master in Public Administration from Harvard University, and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Rice University. During college, Teddy studied abroad for one year at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
