Judge Walrath Approves Weinstein Co. Plan of Liquidation, PSZJ Lawyers Rep Committee

January 2021

On January 25, 2021, U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Mary F. Walrath confirmed a settlement plan in the chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings of Weinstein Company Holdings LLC and affiliates. The approved plan resolves the majority of sexual misconduct claims leveled against the film studio's co-founder Harvey Weinstein and The Weinstein Company.

James Stang, Robert Feinstein, Debra Grassgreen, Brad Sandler and Colin Robinson were the principal members of the PSZJ team serving the committee of unsecured creditors, which include women who were sexually abused and harassed.

"In determining that the settlement was fair, it is critical to consider that the Plan balances the interest of the objectors by giving them their day in Court,” Debra Grassgreen said of the settlement. "It also takes into account the wishes of the rest of the women who voted — the ones who just want to move on with their lives and the last thing they want is to have to go through years of public litigation and risk getting nothing at the end.”
