Ayala A. Hassell
Ayala Hassell, resident in Texas and the firm’s Houston office, has had an extensive career representing primarily Fortune 500 tech companies, financial services companies, equity-security holders, institutional lenders, secured lenders, trade creditors, real-property lessors, equipment lessors, banks, and other creditors, both as in-house and law firm counsel. As former senior counsel for a global information technology company, Ayala has a proven track record of mitigating companies’ risk and maximizing recoveries in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts and in all aspects related to credit, creditors’ rights, asset recovery, default and/or insolvency of customers, resellers, distributors, vendors, landlords, lessees, and other debtors involving significant IT contracts, distribution agreements, real-estate leases, personal-property leases, secured transactions, license agreements, and other IT and commercial contracts in virtually all industries and all facets of the domestic and crossborder corporate bankruptcy and financial restructuring or liquidating process. Ayala was instrumental in protecting clients’ multi-million dollar IT contracts and investments in many high-profile chapter 11 cases such as General Motors, American Airlines, and United Airlines. Currently, Ayala concentrates her practice on representing trustees and official creditors’ committees in chapter 11 cases such as Agilon Energy, Rockall Energy, and Talen Energy. Ayala holds an undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from SHSU (1983) and a J.D., with distinction, from St. Mary's School of Law (1986).
