Multi-Color Corporation
Representation of the creditors’ committee in the chapter 11 cases of Multi-Color Corporation and its debtor affiliates in the Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey. The debtors are the leading global manufacturer of “prime” product labeling solutions. On the petition date, the debtors proposed their prepackaged plan and requested a confirmation hearing date within approximately 45 days. The committee retained the firm, with the confirmation hearing—as originally set—less than a week away. With the firm’s assistance, the committee succeeded in having the confirmation hearing continued, objected to the plan, participated in extensive mediation, and negotiated a global settlement with the debtors, the plan sponsor, certain lenders, and other key parties. Under the plan incorporating the settlement, subsequently approved by the court, general unsecured claims were unimpaired or reinstated, and the recovery for unsecured noteholders not party to the prepetition restructuring support agreement was meaningfully increased (including receiving warrants for new common equity).
