
Mass Torts
The firm has represented committees of survivors of clergy sexual abuse in seventeen chapter 11 cases of Catholic dioceses and religious orders and consults with plaintiffs’ counsel around the country. The firm obtained a groundbreaking trial court opinion in which parish real property was determined to be property of the diocese’s bankruptcy estate. In its representation of the creditors’ committee in the San Diego diocese case, the firm negotiated the highest average award in any of the diocese settlements in the country.
